March 29, 2023. We don't know if there are a lot of bars that used to be auto shops in Rome, but Freni e Frizioni in Trastevere is our favorite one. They do great versions of classic Italian cocktails like a negroni sbagliato, and have a longer cocktail list of funky and creative drinks, like The Outline with fennel and pepper-infused Johnnie.

The BEST deal for apertivo in Rome!. Freni e Frizioni opens at 6:30 and offers aperitivo from 7:00-10:00 with a free buffet of appetizers and salads with purchase of a beverage. It was absolutely packed at 7:30 on a Tuesday. The bartenders are great--really knowledgeable and clearly take pride in their product. I love their menu, with looks.

The free buffet food at Freni e Frizioni is vegetarian, and Middle East inspired, and very very salty.
